  • Where is the gallery located?
    We are located at 15 Main Street in the heart of Deer Isle Village, Maine.
  • What are the Gallery hours?
    The Gallery will be open 10am - 5pm Tuesday through Sunday, for the 2022 Exhibition season May 31 through October 9. Winter Windows exhibitions are available for viewing 24/7. For the current artist-in-residence's gallery hours or available workshops see our Current Exhibition page.
  • Does the Gallery have covid precautions I should know in advance?
    Yes. We are excited about opening our gallery to the public this summer! A few things to keep in mind for your visit: 1. Masks are requested if you are not fully vaccinated. 2. Hand sanitation station is available at the entry door. 3. If you exhibit signs of illness/fever do not come in.
  • Do members have to live on Deer Isle?
    No! Our association consists of around 100 members - many from Maine and many from away with summer residency. All of our artists enjoy creating art and are dedicated to promoting the visual arts in this part of Maine, supporting local student artists, and encouraging conversations about the arts within the community.
  • Is there a membership fee?
    Yes. Membership for a new or returning artist is $60.00 for the year. When completing the membership form, you will also sign up for the exhibits you are interested in joining for the season. It's best to complete and submit the membership form early in the year (February - April) to help ensure your placement in the exhibit you chose.
  • What types of membership are there?
    The Deer Isle Artists Association offers three (3) types of membership: Artist - membership is $60.00 for the year and allows you to exhibit in any of the exhibitions throughout the season in addition to supporting the daily operations of the gallery. Patron - membership is $60.00 for the year. The membership fee is a tax-deductible donation to the DIAA to support the gallery's efforts in continuing art education and enjoyment in the Deer Isle region. Student - membership is $10.00 for the year and allows you to exhibit in any of the exhibitions throughout the season.
  • How do I get the artwork I bought online during the 12x12?
    Artwork bought online can be delivered to you through the USPS or can be picked up at our gallery during a specified time. You will have the option to select "Pickup" or "Delivery" during the check out process. Work not available for Gallery Pick Up will be notated in the piece description.
  • How much is the artwork?
    All artwork sold online and in the gallery during the 12 x 12 (x 12) exhibition is $144 (before tax and shipping). If you chose to take the piece with you upon purchase or buy online ask choose to pick up your purchase at the gallery, there is no additional shipping fee.
  • Do you ship?
    Yes - if you are unable to pick up your purchased artwork in person or arrange for someone else to pick up your purchase, we can arrange for the work to be shipped. This may be either from the artist directly or from the gallery. Call the gallery to arrange a shipment or for more detailed information.
  • Are the workshops free?
    Yes! We offer our winter workshops for free, but do require students to sign up in advance. To view our current workshops visit our Current Exhibitions page. To sign up for a workshop, email
  • Do I have to bring my own supplies?
    Depends on the workshop. Each teaching artist will have their own requirements. Materials required and materials supplied by the artist will be listed with the workshop information on our Current Exhibitions page.
