ART Matters
DIAA is pleased to offer opportunities for members to participate as Artists in Residence during the months when the DIAA Gallery is not hosting exhibitions (November, January, February, March, and April). Artists in Residence may use this time to explore individual interests while also representing DIAA in community outreach. The Deer Isle Artists Association believes that these residencies can provide artists with the chance to utilize the gallery space to pursue special interests, explore new directions, techniques, or media, while exploring art in a warm and well-lit space. Applications for residency will be available online and at the gallery. New applicants will be given first preference for each residency year, but if space is available, artists can be granted residencies during consecutive years. Members may elect to share a residency, either by collaborating for the month or by splitting the month between them. Artists applying for a residency must have been a participating member of the gallery for at least two years. Residency applications are due by September 1, and residency decisions will be made by September 15.
